  6. Salt Petal’s splashing sound arrives at Make Music Pasadena

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Salt Petal’s rich and diverse performance was hard not to notice. Their energetic set, which included a devil-esque/bull-looking papier mâché mask, was different to say the least.

Their sound: a mix of genres that not only exceptionally complement one another but create a new distinct sound unheard of in the L.A. music scene.

Salt Petal’s use of 60’s rock, cumbia, Argentinian/Mexican folk, Brazilian bossa nova?, and even soul influences is bound to have you dancing before you know it.

Their use of percussions, accordions, synthesizers, trumpets, and guitars paired with a colorful ensemble is a must see.

Be sure to check out their newest full-length album “Sea Monster" produced by Raymond Richards of "Local Natives" out now!

  8. Soko performs at Make Music Pasadena 2013
    Soko greets her fans.
    Soko

Soko gives a very heartfelt performance at Make Music Pasadena 2013.

As her fans quietly waited in the tight, alley-like corridor, the French-born singer, Soko, seemed very relaxed, wearing a floral crown and a motorcycle jacket that gave some Beetlejuice vibes.

As she began her performance, she greeted and graciously thanked her audience for coming.

Her set was like a wave both musically and…. well, literally.

She played songs from her new album I thought I was an Alien that ranged from heavy tracks with rock crescendos to delicate, soft-as-a-rose-petal ones that made the audience quite receptive-moshing at times, almost knocking down the speakers followed by a sea of mesmerized listeners, who punctiliously observed and listened till the end, proving her impressive emotive range in songs and affection.

Once her performance ended, she stepped down off stage into the audience hugging and greeting a multitude of ever-loving fans.
